Join us for our first planned Event at Being/Body Somatic Arts, called Opening Night, an evening of social gathering, a performance of several short and evocative solo dance/theater pieces by Leonore Tija and Liesje Smith. We will be closing the night out with the amazing Afro-fusion DJ Lavilamod.

Dream of the Huntress is about the journey of erotic liberation. It’s an embodied theater piece chronicling a quest for feminist love, freedom and intimacy amidst betrayal, addiction, and intergenerational trauma. Created and performed by Leonore Tjia

Bio: Leonore Tjia (“Chee-ah”) is an artist-healer whose work lies at the intersection of soul, myth, eros and intimacy. She works as a Marriage and Family Therapist trainee with individuals and couples and runs somatic Body Tales workshops where people tell true stories for healing and witnessing.

New Skin developed over time by exploring perceptual messages that emerge through somatic inquiry, curiosity and the search for meaningful contact. Long term pressure is how crystals form, radiating energy. This piece is about learning how to  release outdated and dysfunctional ideas of stability for new inner foundations the include the soul’s standpoint, allowing it’s gestation to evolve into a declaration for the birthright to shine. Caught between that and the inevitability of what from the outside meets us and affects us, how do we learn to find our individual voice and move toward a beautiful radiance within? How do we find ourselves strengthened, rather than destabilized by what comes to meet us along the way? Created and performed by Liesje Smith.

Bio: Liesje Smith has a degree in dance from Naropa University, 1993. She has performed in work or events created by Maree Remaria, Laurel Jenkins, Lida Winfield, Erika Sendt Miller, Nicole Degasse and worked with Hanna Satterlee.

DJ Lavilamod finishes off the night with amazing Afro-fusion tunes for dancing!

Bio: Born from a world of chaos, the vibration of music became a way to restore peace and joy within. Became a traveler at the young age, a Marchand de rêves, a citizen of the world; painting with sound beyond walls, to shape all that each of us feel, desire and give to express oneself.
